Allotments update
We have had a busy year on the allotments. At our last work party in the spring we built two large compost bins, planted 10 damson trees, and prepared the ground for a large wild flower garden – which has been a beautiful sight throughout the summer and late autumn. Since then we have created a Community Fruit growing area of strawberries, blackcurrants and rhubarb – we hope to sell this produce on the stall next year to raise money for the project – we may need some volunteers to help with the picking! Another bit of good news is that the orchard produced its first substantial crop of fruit – we sold plums and lovely old varieties of apples (Tom Putt, Ashmeads Kernel and Kings Pippin).
