We intend to make a new footpath from the orchard to the top of the hill. It will go up a steep slope and so will be zig-zagged, and hopefully with a handrail. We may get some funds for this and could then get a contractor to do most of the work. Otherwise, it’s down to our wonderful volunteers!
So, if you know a suitable contractor or would be willing to volunteer yourself please let us know (see contact page).

Uncovering the ways of our Castle Mound
The Castle Mound Access and Maintenance Group need your help.
Join us for a fun open-air experience.
Come and share your skills, experience and knowledge for a few hours a month.
At the moment we are improving the right of way from Castle Hill Farm – clearing over- and under-growth and levelling.
We have created a new pedestrian access to the fields – to relieve the use of our neighbour’s driveway.
What’s Next?
Clearing new paths to make a circular route around the hill – part of our opening of ways for people to enjoy the hill and it’s views
Clearing shrub growth from the monument – to make the monument more visible.
We hope to raise funding for replacing the very poor fencing around much of the site, so as to control the sheep grazing.
