Dee Palmer cabaret
Cabaret with Penny and Paul, and Jethro Tull’s Dee Palmer, Saturday 24th February
On a freezing February night, but fortunately before being cut off by the snow, Knucklas Community Centre was the venue for a Cabaret to raise funds for our land project. And what a great evening it was.
Dee Palmer and Paul and Penny live locally, and our biggest thanks must go to them for their brilliant performances, as well as their generosity for coming to support us. The music was music with a difference, a mix of folk, rock and even bits of classical, brilliantly woven together in unlikely ways. Dee starting off with some tracks from Jethro Tull followed by tracks from her latest album, “Through Darkened Glass”. She mixed the highly original wonderful songs she composes and writes with a good dose of humour, particularly about becoming transgender (she had been David Palmer up until about twenty years ago.) Paul and Penny do many of their own arrangements and are wonderful performers with lovely voices. Paul was full of jokes and tongue in cheek stories.
We are also really grateful for all who helped – Anne Belgrave for her stunning poster, Jane Thomas for making the hall look so inviting, Andrew Lewis, Kam Datta and Elizabeth Ritchie for cooking delicious little snacks, Mick Green for being a great compere, and Matt Donaldson for his skills in arranging the sound and lighting, ensuring the performers could be appreciated at their best.

A representative from the JethroTull Group posted the following rightly glowing report about our event.
