Our first Burns night celebration went wonderfully well. We sold all tickets (90), had a meal of haggis, neaps & tatties, after the blessing and toasting of the haggis. Then Bandamania led us in a jolly ceilidh.
The 2020 Knucklas’ Wassail went with a swing. A record crowd attended for the traditional noisy torchlight procession through the village to the edge of the orchard, whose spirit was summoned out of the foggy darkness by the butler. After calling for a great crop of apples in the autumn the crowd went to the Castle Inn which was already well filled. There followed an evening of Wassail songs, offerings of toast to a new tree music and laughter. Wassail! The event which combined with Knucklas’ regular Folk Down the Track event featured on Genevieve Tudor’s Sunday Folk Programme on Radio Shropshire.
