Our 3rd birthday!

Knucklas Castle Community Land Project Posted on 24 March 2012 by Kevin5 February 2015

It is now 3 years since Knucklas Castle Community Land Project came into existence! A lot seems to have happened, and is still happening, in a short time.
It seems a good time to have a little get-together to celebrate our achievements, so we invite everyone (not only members) to come and enjoy a picnic.

“Fools on the hill” is what we are calling it, because it is on Sunday April 1st, in the afternoon.
It will be quite low-key; come to the orchard, meet some nice people, bring a picnic, perhaps something to share, and relax, explore the hill, the orchard and the allotments.
Look forward to seeing you.
Kevin Jones
Secretary

PS There is no parking at the site, please use the community centre and walk across. If disabled please contact me.

Probably the MOST unusual birthday present you can buy anybody!

Knucklas Castle Community Land Project Posted on 5 January 2010 by Publicity & promotions5 February 2015

…. a present that started to grow over 700 years ago.

…. its new shoots now owned by individuals across the World!

High above the little village of Knucklas in middle Wales, the community project known as KCCLP (Knucklas Castle Community Land Project) now has shareholders in London, Cambridge, Oxford, Telford, West Midlands, Worcester, West Yorkshire, California (USA) and Australia.

Will O’Leary (Chair) said “The Project’s central aim is to make sure the Castle site and its adjoining woodland and fields are all owned and enjoyed by the people of the whole Teme Valley so we are really keen to secure all the local interest first before the rest of the World starts buying more shares”

Whilst the directors of KCCLP are keen to spread the word about this Project ever further, they realise that this opens the door to greater International interest and share sales.

Local shareholders are vitally important to the future of the project that revolves around community fun, unity, fresh food growing, well-being, heritage education and the development of rural skills.

Over the next few years, the whole project will experience a great transition through the hands of its shareholders and it will be far easier if these shareholders are all from the Teme Valley.

Help is needed to keep this as local as possible so there is a big New Year wish going out to everyone in the Teme Valley and surrounding hills to buy their friends and family the very unusual and special gift of a share in the Community Project as soon as possible.

To be a shareholder yourself or to buy shares as a great birthday present for
friends and family, phone Kevin straight away – he’s our Project Secretary on 01547 520266

Castle hill

A new view of the castle using LiDR technology has become available, look here: LiDR survey
Many thanks to Mark Walters for this new view.

It raises some interesting questions about the way the castle has been used over the many years of its existence.

We are also on the Welsh governments catalogue of heritage buildings here Coflein
