Home Sweet Home Produce from the Earth "on our Doorstep"

In April this year the Knucklas Castle Community Land Project opened 29 allotments in Knucklas. These allotments are now flourishing and the excess produce is being sold at a weekly market outside the Castle Inn, Knucklas every Sunday 11 – 2 pm.

The Castle Inn now opens an hour earlier serving teas, coffees and tasty Bacon Rolls.

One of the organisers said, “This was our first day and we sold everything! There were plenty of people to help including members of Knucklas Youth Club who have their own allotment. They helped to pick the produce only minutes before the stall opened. People want to buy fresh local produce, not something that has travelled miles and is several days old! In these uncertain economic times, with rising food prices and fears over food security, it is great to see how people are working together to do something about it!”
